company’s mini excavators, cutting edge technologies and a lot more.
Give us an overview on the Mini Excavators industry in India, latest
trends and market dynamics.
Despite the Pandemic, last year the mini excavator market grew by
around 30% in the backdrop of sustained Capex in infrastructure by the
government. Continued acceleration in investment & execution under
Jal Jeevan Mission was a major impetus to faster growth. In the Union
budget presented in February this year, the government reiterated the
focus on investment in infrastructure by enhancing Capex to 7.5 Lakh
Crores, signifying an increase of nearly 35% YoY. State governments have
announced a similar increase in Capex for this fiscal. The mini excavator
segment is by far the fastest-growing category under excavators for
several years now.
In terms of capacities, we expect the mini excavator market to continue
to grow faster than the overall market with increased mechanization due
to labour shortage as well as shrinking project timelines. This segment will
also be supported by increased allocation for the implementation of
Har Ghar Jal - rural water supply program. We also anticipate continued
migration from backhoe loaders since it has become costlier post CEV4
emission norms implementation last year.
