HCC BAGS HYDRO & TUNNELING CONTRACT 

Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has been awarded two contracts worth Rs.623 crore in the hydro power and tunneling sectors. The first order is of Rs.456 crore from the Tangsibji Hydro Energy Ltd of Bhutan while the second order is of Rs.67 crore from JKSPDC. The order from the Tangsibji Hydro Energy Ltd of Bhutan is for constructing 118 MW Nikachhu Hydropower Project in Trongsa district of Bhutan. This is an EPC contract and the project is to be completed in 48 months. The second order from the JKSPDC is for constructing a double lane tunnel of approx. 1500m length which shall be the access road to 1856 MW Sawalkote Hydroelectric Power Project in Jammu & Kashmir. This is also an EPC contract involving investigation, design and construction of the tunnel. The project is to be completed in 30 months. With these order wins, HCC’s order intake in FY 2015-16 has reached Rs.5,778 crore. Besides, the company is lowest bidder in 4 projects worth Rs.3,677 crore. The combined order backlog is likely to cross Rs.21,000 crore in the FY2015-16.

PETROL TANK ORDERS FOR ESSAR STEEL

Essar Steel has been awarded a Rs.100 crore order to manufacture 7,000 cylindrical petrol tanks from Essar Oil. The fabrication will be required for 4,000 petrol pumps of Essar Oil. It is reported the fuel tanks having a life span of 20-30 years will be manufactured at the company’s service centres at Hazira, Pune, Chennai and Bahadurgarh near Delhi.

L&T GETS ORDER RICH

EPC major Larsen & Toubro Limited has won orders worth Rs.3205 crore across its various businesses. The company’s Buildings & Factories Business has bagged orders worth Rs.2018 crore related to a high rise residential project from a leading developer in Mumbai. The scope of work involves civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and finishing works for six towers each with 55 to 60 floors. The Power Transmission & Distribution Business has bagged orders worth Rs.710 crore including a major turnkey order from a subsidiary of PGCIL for the construction of a 400 kV double circuit transmission line linking Cuddapah to Madhugiri and another order for construction of a 765kV double circuit transmission line at Cuddapah.  The company’s Metallurgical & Material Handling Business has bagged orders worth Rs.177 crore that execution of an Ash Handling Plant (AHP) from NTPC Limited. Additional orders worth Rs.300 crore has also been received from an ongoing job of the Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business.

PUNJ LLOYD BAGS PROJECT FROM DAMAC SUBSIDIARY

Diversified EPC conglomerate, Punj Lloyd has bagged a Rs.308 crore infrastructure order in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from Front Line Investment Management Co. LLC, a subsidiary of  Damac Properties Development LLC, for the construction of 168 villas at Trixis Cluster of the Akoya Oxygen master development offering a luxury lifestyle at the heart of nature in Al Yufrah 2, Dubai. The community will feature a selection of opulent homes set within endless green with 18-hole championship golf course, luxurious five-star hotel as well 2,000 hotel apartments, luxury Retail Strip (Vista Lux) encompassing 1 million square foot entertainment and retail district featuring a waterway and more than 1.5 km of walkway. The Akoya Oxygen community will have the region’s first rainforest and will be fully completed before EXPO 2020.

UP ROAD PROJECT FOR PNC INFRATECH

PNC Infratech, an infrastructure, construction, development and management firm with expertise in execution of major infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, flyovers and airport runways, has been awarded a Rs.868.5-crore contract for a road project in Uttar Pradesh. The work involves four-laning of the Varanasi-Gorakhpur section of NH-29 from km 12.000 to km 88.000 under NHDP Phase-IV.

TAPOVAN VISHNUGAD HYDRO POWER PROJECT

A Rs.635 crore contract by NTPC to construct Head Race Tunnel (balance works) for Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro-electric Power Project on the River Dhauliganga in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand has been awarded to Hindustan Construction Company Ltd.  The project is to be completed in 34 months. This is an item rate contract involving salvaging of Double Shield Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) stuck in the earlier operation by other contractor, refurbishing and putting it in operation to construct 2.84 km long Head Race Tunnel (HRT), installation of segmental lining. The contract also involves construction of 1.66 km long tunnel using drill & blast method and concrete lining.

GAYATRI CONSORTIUM BAGS DFCC PROJECT

The consortium of Hyderabad based Gayatri Projects Ltd, Sojitz Corporation of Japan and L&T Ltd has won a Rs.4,744-crore contract for designing and building the Iqbalgarh-Vadodara section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFCC). The project mandate is for design and construction of civil, building and track works for double line railway involving formation in embankments/cuttings, bridges, structures along with works relating to bridges across rivers of Mahi and Sabramati. The scope of work includes testing and commissioning on design, build on lump sum price basis
