SHRIRAM TOWNSHIP FOR KOLKATA

Shriram Properties has announced plans to invest up to Rs.10,000 crore to develop a mixed township at Uttarpara near Kolkata. The Bengaluru-based real estate developer, part of the Shriram Group, will set up the project called Shriram City Grand on a 314 acre that once belonged to CK Birla-promoted Ambassador-car maker, Hindustan Motors. It is reported the first phase will see development of residential properties with 2300 apartments catering to the affordable segment. Subsequent phases will see development of office spaces, schools and hospitals. The entire township is  expected to be completed over a decade.

 

 

SKILL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE FOR KERALA

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd under the aegis of the Union Petroleum ministry has announced plans to set up a skill development institute in Kerala. The PSU has signed an agreement with the government of Kerala to establish the institute at the ITI campus in Ettumanoor for which the authorities have allotted 8 acres of land. The proposed institute will focus on providing skilled manpower to industries in the oil, gas and petrochemical sector besides overall skill upgradation and development of the youth of the region.

 

 

Rs.2000 CR MALABAR TOWNSHIP

An integrated township has been launched in Thrissur by the Malabar group, which owns the Malabar Gold & Diamonds franchise. The Rs.2000 crore Malabar Integrated Township, whose foundation stone was recently inaugurated will provide for an IT hub, a commercial business cluster, a large convention facility, residential apartments, shopping mall, and an entertainment centre spread over five million sq ft. It will also create 50,000 jobs.

 

 

NEW BIM SOFTWARE FROM TEKLA

Trimble has introduced a new software version of its Building Information Modeling (BIM), Tekla Structures 2016. The solution provides enhanced collaboration and workflow efficiency for structural steel and precast concrete designers, detailers and fabricators, concrete contractors, general contractors and structural engineers. Tekla Structures, the most advanced BIM software, makes accurate, constructible modeling of any steel or concrete structure possible. The new software version provides even more efficient modeling, allowing increased productivity by avoiding costly errors more easily in the fabrication and construction phases. The new Tekla Structures user interface offers a smooth user experience and shorter learning curve with several features that make modeling easier and accelerate the design process.

 

 

PIRAMAL REALTY TO RAISE PROFILE

Piramal Realty, the real estate arm of Ajay Piramal-owned Piramal Group, is looking to increase its portfolio in the coming years thanks to the strong bandwidth provided by the 2015 investment of $434 million by Goldman Sachs and Warburg Pincus. It is reported the company plans to invest Rs.16,000 crore in development of real estate projects and acquisition of land, over the next 4 years and has roughly 9 million square feet of residential projects pipeline to be executed till 2020.  Among the main projects being developed by the firm is an office project near BKC in Mumbai ad-measuring 2.5 million square feet and a 70-storey high rise residential project.

 

 

HIGH RISE PROJECT FROM NITESH

Nitesh Estates, a leading integrated property development company, through its wholly owned subsidiary has signed a joint development agreement for a residential project at Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The new project to come up on a plot of land measuring around 5 acres on the Bengaluru Mysore highway will be a high rise residential development. The Bengaluru headquartered firm provides world-class products and services and has presence across four asset class homes, hotels, office buildings, and shopping malls.

 

 

INDIABULLS INVESTS IN SHREE NAMAN

The first of the several real estate-focused funds managed by Indiabulls Asset Management Co. Ltd, Indiabulls Real Estate Fund has invested Rs.125 crore in an upcoming residential project launched by the Shree Naman Group in south Mumbai. The fourth transaction from the fund this is a form of structured debt. It has invested Rs.100 crore each in projects of Supertech Ltd. and Vatika Group in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Rs.125 crore in Sheth Creators Pvt. Ltd’s project in Mumbai during the course of last year, after launching its fund in February 2015.

 

 

WASTE CONVERSION TO CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL

A process to convert hazardous environmental wastes into construction material has reportedly been formulated by researchers at Aligarh Muslim University. The conversion relates to recycled Polythene Terephthalate (PET) and fly ash produced by thermal power plants. The use of fly ash in polymer concrete is expected to lead to a huge subtraction in the use of coarse sand which is currently leading to a major environmental crisis arising from large scale mining of sands from various river beds.

 

 

NMDC STEEL PLANT TO DOUBLE CAPACITY

The blast furnace to be used for manufacturing steel at NMDC Ltd’s steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh is expected to emerge as one of India’s largest. The 3 MTPA plant is scheduled to be commissioned by December this year and is likely to commence production by July 2017. It is reported the Union Steel & Mines Ministry has outlined plans to double the installed capacity once the plant is commissioned.

 

 

PURAVANKARA PUNE PROJECT

Real estate developer Puravankara Projects has announced its foray back into the Western Region with a proposed development of 30 acres in Mundhwa near Pune. Purva Silversands, the first phase of development across 20 acres is being launched as a unique Integrated Lifestyle District. The project with best in class facilities, providing a resort type lifestyle to homebuyers in Pune, will feature luxurious homes around a sprawling manmade lagoon with a wave pool, snorkelling pool, koi pond, hammocks, palm trees combined with cafes, restaurants and boutique shopping. Purva Silversands set on the Mula-Mutha river promenade offers a variety of lifestyle residential apartments along with cafés, restaurants and boutique shopping.

 

 

IMPERIA MINDSPACE FOR GURGAON

Imperia Structures Limited has announced the launch of its intelligent office complex, Imperia Mindspace in Gurgaon. The complex will contain state-of-the-art features such as advanced energy management and control System, high-speed elevators dedicated landscaped terrace with putting green, scalable office spaces, food court spanning over 10000 sq. ft and a state-of-the-art business centre spread over 35,000 sq. ft. It is reported the complex will have a stringent safety and security system in place. The Delhi based real estate player has developed and leased out 2 million square feet of commercial space to fortune 500 and multinational companies.

 

 

CONCRETE INSTITUTE CENTER FOR RAIPUR

A branch of the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), one the leading professional bodies of the construction industry, has been inaugurated in Raipur. A non-profit organisation, ICI is dedicated to the cause of disseminating knowledge on concrete, to promote concrete technology and construction and to address the research needs of concrete. ICI was born in 1982 with around 500 members from five regional centres. It is reported all segments of cement and concrete industries are widely represented in the membership.

 

 

KALYAN PROJECT BY TATA HOUSING

Tata Housing has announced a residential project in Kalyan called Avaha. The new project called Avaha comprises 2 and 3 BHK apartments ranging from 927 sq ft to 1,490 sq ft and starts at a Rs.63 lakh price point.  Avaha is designed by HOK, USA for a superior living experience that is exemplified through its exquisite residences that embody luxury with a better lifestyle.  It is reported the project was launched on the company’s Founder's Day, which is celebrated in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Tata group founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata.

 

 

HOTEL CONSTRUCTION BOOST FOR SOUTH

Real estate developers from the south such as Prestige, Brigade and Embassy are investing heavily on the hotels segment on the strength of demand from Information Technology and e-commerce sectors. These companies are expected to add a fourth of their current stock or 5,500 hotel rooms in the next couple of years as part of their residential or commercial projects. While the Prestige Group is building 1000 rooms from three hotels in the Garden City at a spend of around Rs.750 crore, the Brigade group is currently building four hotels with about 850 rooms, with an investment of Rs.500 crore and the Embassy Group is planning to build four hotels at an investment of Rs.1,300 crore, with a total of 1,500 rooms.

 

 

GODREJ LAUNCHES PHASE 2 OF MUMBAI PROJECT

Real estate major Godrej Properties has launched the second phase of one of its largest housing projects at Vikhroli in Mumbai. The Trees contains a total of 256 apartments with a saleable area of approximately 32,000 sq. mt. (344,000 sq. ft.) with customers getting a choice of 1 BHK, 2 BHK, 2.5 BHK, 3 BHK, 3.5 BHK apartments, duplexes and penthouses with carpet areas ranging from 43 sq.mt. to 107 sq. mt. It is reported all the residences offer premium specifications and are designed to offer spectacular views. The mixed-use development spread across 9.4 acre will contain a 5 star hotel, cultural buildings, luxury residences, high street retail,  private parks and an iconic clubhouse facility.

 

 

SHREE CEMENT TO GET RS 6000 CR BOOST

Shree Cement has announced plans to raise its capacity by another 10 million tonnes in the coming three years. The company has lined up a capital expenditure of Rs.6,000 crore to construct three new clinker plants. The first in the line will be a plant in the Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara district in Chhattisgarh, with a minimum capacity of three mt which will be announced in four months. It is reported the launch of these new plants will take the company’s total clinker plant count to six, while six to seven grinding units will remain operational throughout this phase.
