UTTAM GALVA TIEUP FOR WARDHA PLANT

A part of Uttam Galva Group and world’s leading steel maker POSCO of South Korea, Uttam Galva Metallics Ltd (UGML), has signed an MoA (Memorandum Of Agreement) to deploy Finex (Fine Ore Reduction Process - an alternative iron making technology using iron ore fines and Compact Endless Casting and Rolling Mill, a process to replace a large portion among the CR products with thin hot rolled products technologies for its plant in Wardha. As a result of this collaboration with POSCO UGML’s Wardha Plant will have an initial steelmaking capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and will be operational by April 2019.

 

 

INDIA ADHESIVES MARKET Rs.88.2 BILLION BY FY’2020

As per Ken Research report the India adhesives market will grow at a considerable CAGR rate reaching Rs.88.2 billion by FY’2020 on the back of rapid industrialization and government support. This will be due to a shift from solvent based adhesives to water based adhesives, primarily due to increasing environmental awareness among consumers. Increasing income levels and infrastructure development in India are expected to drive the growth of building materials and related products including water-based adhesives that are categorised into acrylic emulsions and PVA.

 

 

SKIPPER PVC PIPES IN NORTHEAST

One of the market leaders in the PVC pipe business in eastern India, Skipper Limited, one of the market leaders in the PVC pipe business in eastern India has set its foot in the north eastern by commissioning its manufacturing plant in Guwahati. The state-of-the-art manufacturing unit to produce plumbing and agri pipes located in the Kamrup district near Guwahati airport is the first of its kind in India. The plant will have a manufacturing capacity to produce 4000 MTPA plumbing and agri pipes. Starting with a capacity of 4000 MTPA, this unit will propel Skipper Limited gradually to become one of the leading PVC pipe manufacturers in the region and ensure the supply of quality PVC products to the North East.

 

 

L&T-MCDERMOTT CONSORTIUM BAGS EPC AWARD

A consortium of McDermott and L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro, has been awarded a contract covering the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of major subsea field infrastructure for the Vashishta and S1 Development Project, a greenfield deepwater development. The scope of work includes supply and installation of a series of pipeline end terminations (PLETs) and in-line tee structures (ILT), a pipeline end manifold structure (PLEM), rigid jumpers and approximately 30 miles of umbilicals. It is reported the pipeline scope includes 64 miles of 14-inch dual rigid pipelines extending from the shallow water shore line to a maximum water depth of 2,300 feet.

 

 

JMC BAGS Rs.1,050 CRORE CONSTRUCTION WORK

Civil engineering and EPC major JMC Projects (India) Ltd, a subsidiary of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd which provides services across areas in the construction sector including civil and structural, has bagged construction projects worth over Rs.1,050 crore. The scope of the work includes construction of flyover and buildings. The first order is for five building projects in Bengaluru worth approximately Rs.794 crore, a building project in Hyderabad worth about Rs 110 crore and a flyover project in Bhiwandi from MMRDA worth approximately Rs.150 crore. The company is primarily engaged in the construction of industrial and residential buildings and power and infrastructure development projects.

 

 

ROAD TENDERS FROM NAGPUR MUNICPAL CORPORATION 

Civic authorities in Nagpur have cleared projects worth Rs.330.68 crore. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation standing committee has tabled 32 proposals, including proposal to invite tenders for constructing cement roads worth Rs.324.03 crore across the city. Other proposals included beautification of crematorium and construction of tar roads and internal cement roads in many localities.

 

 

NEW PRODUCTS FROM TATA STEEL

Tata Steel has launched two new first of its kind steel products to support the Indian construction industry. A high strength variant of steel hollow sections called Tata Structura 355, with enhanced yield strength, cost effectiveness, resistance to corrosion, convenience of fabrication and creativity and an additional variant with fire-resistance properties. The brand has been extensively used in the construction of airports, metro and railway stations, malls, IT & industrial complexes, thereby, transforming the skyline of urban India.

 

 

FIRST COMMERCIAL PROJECT FOR KERALA FROM SOBHA

Sobha Ltd. has launched its first commercial project in Kerala. The Sobha City Mall at Puzhakkal on the Thrissur-Guruvayoor State highway is located in the heart of Sobha City, the first and the largest integrated township in the State. Sprawled over five acres the mall with a built-up area of approximately 450000 square feet will offer retail and entertainment experience for the customers. Three floors of shopping space is designed to offer an array of retail, entertainment and recreation options with a six-screen multiplex, restaurants, food court and a gaming arcade.

 

 

 

SHOPPING COMPLEX FOR HYD METRO

Authorities in Hyderabad have constructed a shopping complex to accommodate 80 shops and 100 hawkers expected to be displaced by the Metro project. It is reported the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited’s relief and rehabilitation (R&R) complex has come up on a 2,000 sq yard site with a built-up of 70,000 sq ft. The structure includes platforms on the ground floor and four upper floors and cellars.

 

 

RMZ-ESSAR REAL ESTATE DEAL

 Southern real estate developer RMZ Corp, backed by Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), is reportedly in advanced discussions with the Ruias of Essar for the purchase of a business park in Mumbai. If the Equinox Business Park, the 1.2 million sqft park, located adjacent to Bandra Kurla Complex in Kurla deal is concluded for a reported Rs 2,400 crore it will become the biggest commercial real estate deal in Mumbai, and easily one of the largest in India in recent years. The business park houses tenants like IDFC, Tata Communications, Crompton Greaves, Nissan and Lafarge, besides Essar companies. The Bengaluru based firm will reportedly pay about Rs.19,000 per sq ft for the deal.

 

 

PUNJAB’S CONSTRUCTION SKILLS CAMPAIGN

Authorities in Punjab have announced skill development training to 14,790 construction workers engaged at 182 construction sites in two phases this year as part of the state’s skill development mission The list of construction workers prepared by the Punjab Construction Worker's Welfare Board has been forwarded to the Punjab State Skill Development Mission for the purpose. Four Skill Development Centers will be set up at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Mohali and Ludhiana for imparting skill development training to children of construction workers. Under the new initiatives insurance cover of up to Rs.5 lakh is being granted for the construction worker in case of death due to accident.

 

 

JCI IN TOILET CONSTRUCTION RECORD

The Junior Chamber International India has constructed a record number of 5,700 toilet blocks as part of its flagship ‘Samadhan’ project to be implemented under the Swaach Bharat Abhiyan campaign.  Each block comprising three toilets, in schools in the backward areas across the country has been constructed at a cost of Rs.75,000. It is reported the total commercial value of the work exceeds $ 2.5 million.

 

 

DLF LAUNCHES MALL OF INDIA

Real estate major DLF has launched what is being billed as the 'India's largest destination mall”. The 2 million square feet Mall of India in Noida’s Sector 18 is spread over six levels with 18 big stores and Big Bazaar Gen Next and Max opening their stores. It is reported the mall which expects a footfall of about 3 million people per month has about 100 fashion brands and 73 food and beverage brands, including 51 cafes, and 22 F&B kiosks. It also has 350 brands, 80 kiosk brands, 7 DT screens apart from a parking capacity for 1,700 cars.

 

 

PRATEEK RAISES FINANCE FOR TOWNSHIP

Real estate firm Prateek Group has raised Rs.100 crore for a township project it is building in Ghaziabad . The funding for the 40 acre township called Prateek Grand City is by investment firm Xander group's NBFC arm Xander Finance. The project is located in the Siddharth Vihar area of Ghaziabad adjoining NH-24 where the builder has planned 7,000 apartments, of which 3,000 have already been launched. The land has been bought from the Ghaziabad Development Authority.

 

 

FOURTH CABLE STAYED BRIDGE OPENS

North India's maiden cable-stayed bridge, and India’s fourth, has been thrown open to traffic. Atal Setu built over the Ravi at Basholi will provide close connectivity among the three states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The 592-metre span bridge has been constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) at a cost of Rs.145 crore. It is a joint venture of Indian Railway Construction Company Limited (IRCON) and SP Singla Construction group.

 

 

ADANI BEGINS WORK AT VIZHINGAM PORT

India’s biggest private port operator, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones Ltd has begun construction of a new international container transhipment port at Vizhinjam in Kerala. The first phase of the Vizhinjam port will have an 800-metre long berth capable of handling one million twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs). The berth length will be extended to 2km in three phases with a capacity to load 3 million TEUs. Vizhinjam will have deep berths and an approach channel of up to 20 metres, capable of docking mega container ships.
