We see a lot of potential in Indian market

 

Case India, which has maintained the leadership position in the Road Construction Equipment (Vibratory Compactor and Motor Graders) segment, which form the lifeline of any road construction activity, showcased its entire gamut of products at Excon 2015. NEIL WOODFIN, BRAND LEADER, CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT FOR ASIA PACIFIC, CASE NEW HOLLAND INDUSTRIAL and SHALABH CHATURVEDI,  HEAD MARKETING, CASE INDIA responded to queries from CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES about the company’s products and plans for EXCON 2015

 

 

On Excon as a platform for business: NW: The show offered us a valuable opportunity to meet our customers, understand and identify the needs of the Indian market and to strengthen our market presence. At the show we launched our world class Eagle Eye Telematic System a real time vehicle tracking and communication device based on GPS technology into our products and displayed our wide range of attachments for construction equipment. I am happy to say we received a very positive customer response.

 

On your company’s contribution to ‘Make in India’: SC: As part of the Make in India philosophy, CNH Industrial has continued to invest in the manufacturing operations in India. On the Construction Equipment side, CNH Industrial, under its brand of CASE Construction, has a world class manufacturing plant in Pithampur. We have applied advanced manufacturing practices and quality standards following our global “World Class Manufacturing” processes at the plant. This has led to synergies with various international markets of CASE Construction and consequently the Pithampur plant now offers world class quality products for domestic as well as export markets. Presently we are manufacturing four models of Loader Backhoes and three models of Vibratory Compactors in India with several variants suiting specific customer requirements, ensuring that the customers in India also get an access to the high technology products comparable to the best in the world.

 

On the potential of the India market: NW: We look at India as an extremely critical and a vital market for our operations. A key concern hindering the market’s growth relates to funds being made available for infrastructure development. However, the central government has been very proactive towards infrastructure development and has been very aggressive in fast tracking projects. Also the demographics here are very favourable to attract new investments.

 

On the product offerings and technology: SC: We have broadly divided our offerings into general construction machineries and road construction equipment. Under our road construction equipment segment, we have displayed three compactors. Apart from that, we launched our globally renowned motor graders in India, which are currently imported from our plant in Brazil. On the general construction side, we displayed our four top class loader backhoes belonging to the 76 HP, 86 HP and 96 HP categories. Apart from these, we also brought in our globally renowned skid steer loaders SR130, from USA, and our wide range of attachments for the construction equipment. Customers today are increasingly becoming quality conscious and inclined to technologically rich equipment. Hence, in this edition a key feature of our product line was the telematics solution introduced on our machinery. Named Eagle Eye, this GPS enabled facility equips the customer to monitor and analyse the machines’ performance and health parameters from a remote location. In addition, we also displayed our New Holland Tractor with a drilling attachment from Agricultural Equipment Division, with a manufacturing plant in Greater Noida, which is our sister concern within the CNH Industrial group.

 

On the prospects of business in the Indian market: NW: While the sector as a whole is expected to revive soon, the market for road and infrastructure oriented equipment is on a constant rise. The government’s aggressive promotion of infrastructure projects can be considered a supportive feature driving demand volumes for the heavy equipment range. Also a high level of demand is being seen for mechanised and automated construction equipment. India has a huge talent base of qualified and young professionals. The potential for growth in countries such as India, with the availability of young talented individuals, is much higher than other developed countries with ageing population. We are even hopeful of expanding our export potential from the India market. The growing opportunities from the infrastructure segment backed by the enormous talent pool encourage us to invest more in India. We will plan and expand as per the market dynamics and will maintain a close relationship with our end users. We are very optimistic about the potential of the India market.
