Our world class products, solutions and services make us able partners of the India Growth Story

Starting its India journey from Pune in 1957, thyssenkrupp Industries India has grown to become one of the leading EMPCS (Engineering Procurement, Manufacturing, Construction and Services) companies in the country catering to areas like cement, infrastructure, industrial boilers, open cast mining, power plants, bulk material handling, sugar plants and machinery. SIVASUBRAMANIAN NATRAJAN, MD,  thyssenkrupp INDUSTRIES INDIA PVT LTD and DR. ARMIN GREUNE. HEAD OF STANDARD MACHINES BUSINESS GLOBAL, OPERATING UNIT MINERAL PROCESSING, thyssenkrupp INDUSTRIAL SOLUTIONS AG, spoke to SHRIKANT RAO on the merits of Excon 2015 as a business vehicle and the takeaways from the event.

On Excon as a business platform:

SN: Excon is one of the largest exhibitions in the construction equipment industry and plays a significant role in our growth strategy. We have expanded our product line with three new launches in the current edition. Apart from being an ideal platform for product launches and displaying new technologies, the show also gives the customer a chance to feel our machines and understand their unique benefits.

On the newly launched products:

SN: We launched our new, indigenously manufactured product line for aggregate crushing and screening plant at Excon 2015. Our new aggregate crushing plant portfolio includes the Kubria® Cone Crusher, Single Toggle Jaw Crusher EB series and Multirok® Vertical Shaft Impactors. These will cater to infrastructure and mining sectors. Being fully mobile, these machines can be easily transported and installed at different project sites. With the government gearing to construct road networks at 30 km per day we see huge opportunities for such machinery.

On your assessment of the industry and market requirements:

SN: According to a recent study by Industry ARC, the mobile crushing and screening equipment market globally is estimated to register CAGR of around 5.5 per cent for the period 2015-2020 and reach $2.4 billion by 2020. The report further states that 2015-2016 will be a growth year for the mobile crushing and screening equipment. India today is at the cusp of robust growth, rising as one of the strongest economies amongst emerging markets. With the demand expected to grow by 6-7 per cent in the mining sector during 2015-2016, demand for construction equipment will increase as well. Currently, the crushing equipment industry is worth about `1000 crore. I am happy to add that all our new launches are in line with market requirements.

On the concept of localisation in the Indian markets:

DR. AG: It is a very important factor for us. We have set up a global engineering team involving technical specialists and experts in India, to develop our products after understanding the requirements of the local market and customers

On strategy to push business:

SN: Our plan is to grow further and strengthen our Indian footprint. Thanks to the initiatives taken by the Government of India to invest in much needed infrastructure development, we see strong opportunities to push our superior machines in the infra sector. We will continue to offer our innovative products and systems to the Indian market. We have identified our growth strategies according to market sentiments and are very optimistic of the opportunities from India.

On business enablers expected from Indian government:

DR. AG: A proactive and supportive government is always a necessity for the success of any development activity. Similarly, the infrastructure developments and numerous construction projects that are being planned can bring out fruitful results only through the support of the government. Development starts with infrastructure. However, infrastructure development also means the need for increased investments. Hence, it is necessary to make the market more investment friendly. We are very optimistic about India and are eagerly looking to expand our operations in India.

SN: The government is today talking about ease of doing business in India. But, along with this, I think, they also need to focus upon the need to bring speedy reforms in terms of policy implementation, project execution and bringing infrastructure development plans into practice. We are here as a long-term player and our aim is to only grow further. Backed by thyssenkrupp's power of innovation, design and technological advancement, we at thyssenkrupp Industries India are geared to cater to this demand with our world class products, solutions and services, thereby aligning ourselves as able partners of the India growth story. Infrastructure development in India is currently at a take-off point and we believe that thyssenkrupp can play a major role in this.

Product Push

Cone Crushers:

Backed by the brand’s sturdy design, higher capacity, low operating and wear part costs, optimum efficiencies, the Kubria® Cone Crusher will offer advanced technological expertise for hard rock crushing with core diameter options ranging from 900mm to 1300mm. These will find application in production of ballast and chippings in natural rock and gravel industries, ore mining, ore crushing in metallurgical plants, lime and cement industries, refractory industry and other primary industry areas.

Jaw Crushers:

Available in three sizes, the newly launched jaw crushers has the ability to crush stones of varying sizes ranging from 600-700 mm and even 200 mm. Our other product, which is a secondary crusher can refine and reduce the stones involving 160-200 mm and brings it down to even 50 mm sizes. Our vertical shaft impactor on the other hand can polish these stones and create sand of it. All these machineries are equally important for the evolving opportunities from road construction projects.

The Single-toggle jaw crusher comes with the largest antifriction bearings and the highest flywheel energy. They are specially designed for highest throughput rates for medium-hard to very hard material. Available in three sizes, they achieve throughput rates ranging up to 600 t/h. Single-toggle jaw crushers are outstanding for their rugged design, low weight and space requirement and can be used in quarries, ore mining and crushing in metallurgical plants, recycling industry and other primary industry areas.

Vertical Shaft Impactors:

Drawing from thyssenkrupp's expertise of being leader in impact crushing since 1959, thyssenkrupp Industries India's Multirok® Vertical Shaft Impactors are tertiary crushers for the production of high-grade chippings or crushed sand from hard rock such as basalt, granite, diorite, andesite and gravel. The vertical arrangement of the rotor makes for a compact, low-weight unit that is ideal for mobile operations.

DR. AG: Our principal activity is to transfer know-how and organisational expertise to India. We expect our Indian customers to benefit from our technical expertise and global experience. India is one of the major and vital markets which we are targeting today. I think we are here at the right time and are seeing immense potential. We will also be developing machines through our state-of-the-art technologies specifically for Indian customers.
SN: Today, customers want the latest technologies and equipment that ensure least energy consumption and low emissions. Our machines are designed and built to cater to such requirements. In fact, these elements have become a standard feature in our entire product ranges. Our emphasis is on delivering clean, maintenance free and operator friendly machines. We expect thyssenkrupp Industries India to become a manufacturing hub for Global Standard Machines Business.
