RICHA WINS TEKLA BIM 2015 AWARD

Richa Industries Ltd, one of the leading construction and engineering companies, has won the Tekla India BIM 2015 award under the infrastructure projects category. The award recognised Richa Industries’ depot cum workshop model for the Lucknow Metro project. The model demonstrates complexity of structures as fabricated from built-up section and also indicates intricate use of BIM. The most attractive feature of the project is that it is a large 72 meter span structure with a curved roof which made the structure stand out of the rest. Established in 1993, the company has its operations in the pre-engineered building, structural steel, turnkey and textile sectors in India.

 

SHAPOORJI PALLONJI TOWER FOR BENGALURU

Realty major Shapoorji Pallonji Real Estate has made its foray into IT hub Bengaluru with the launch of a premium residential project. The project named ParkWest is spread over 47 acres and will have 18 storey tower scaling a height of 60 metres. The structure will have two and three bedroom apartments, garden duplexes and penthouses ranging from 1,245 sq ft to 2,921 sq ft. It is reported the luxury residential project will offer Bengaluru residents gracious and exclusive living with the best of modern amenities, right in the heart of the city.

 

1,00,000 AFFORDABLE HOMES FROM MHADA

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority has outlined plans to build 1,00,000 affordable homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The organisation has identified 450 hectares of government land there for the construction of the structures, it is reported.

 

LOGISTICS PARK FROM ALLCARGO

Allcargo Logistics Ltd, a part of the Avvashya Group, is planning to build a logistics park as part of the Smart Cities project. The company is now in the process of identifying potential areas to develop the park and is also examining the return on investments likely to be achieved. The other key facets identified as a part of the preliminary study is the development of dedicated rail and freight corridors and industrial zones that will determine the apt region for the development of the logistics park. The company however has not yet disclosed any details on the investments lined up for project development.

 

BOMBARDIER RAIL CONTROL SOLUTIONS

Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation has opened a new Rail Control Solutions (RCS) office for Engineering and Product Development (EAPD) in Gurgaon. The facility expands Bombardier’s global network of specialised centres which develop and design products for its latest rail control solutions delivered worldwide. The new team will have a particular focus on developing, testing, networking and cybersecurity. The state-of-the-art centre will support product development activities for customers locally and globally. Bombardier is Delhi Metro’s largest contractor for signalling and train control solutions with over 130 km of line delivered or in progress. It has been developing its signalling competencies in India over the last years, including opening a dedicated RCS rail control project delivery centre for Indian customers in Gurgaon in 2014.

 

PURAVANKARA PROJECTS GOES 270 DEGREES

Southern real estate major Purvankara Projects has launched a premium residential project in Bengaluru. Located in CV Raman Nagar Purva 270 Degrees is spread over a 10.35-acre campus and comprises a total of 660 units. The project with lush green open spaces contains 1, 2 and 3 BHK apartments will be completed and handed over for possession by April 2017.

 

ESSEL TO BUILD 200,000 AFFORDABLE HOMES

Foraying into the realty segment, Essel Group plans to build 200,000 homes in the next seven years. The project is to be developed under a new initiative named Asha 2022 and is in line with the government’s ambitious agenda of ‘Housing for All’ by 2022. The company has identified an investment of rS.800 crore for Phase-I of the project, which will be primarily concentrated in northern India. The project under Phase-I will be launched at Panchkula, Haryana and will be priced between rS.15-25 lakh. The other three projects under Phase-I are planned in Hissar, Bahadurgarh and Rohtak.

 

JSPL-BHASIN TO BUILD LARGEST STEEL STRUCTURE

The Structural Steel Division of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) has partnered with Bhasin Group for construction of Festival City, India’s tallest composite steel structure. The world-class commercial complex spread over 9 lakh sq ft in Noida, the 33 storied Festival City will be built in 99 days, the fastest ever in India. The construction of the office tower ‘Mist’ commenced on 21st October 2015 and is scheduled for completion on 29th January 2016. The floors of the India’s tallest composite steel structure will be laid through international cutting-edge technology without scaffolding using ‘Made in India’ steel manufactured by JSPL. JSPL will provide infrastructure solutions such as E550 grade structural steel columns and beams, suspended concrete flooring system, Speedfloor for slabs and TMT Welded-mesh for slab reinforcements.

 

FACTORY MADE RESIDENTIAL PROJECT FROM KEF INFRA

KEF Infra, the infrastructure arm of the Singapore-based KEF Holdings has delivered India’s first wholly factory-made residential project called “MeridiYEN” to Yenepoya University of Mangalore. The project, comprising three 8-storey residential buildings covering an area of 1 lakh sq.ft, was completed in a record nine months, and marks the successful initiation of a game-changing offsite construction technology that helps significantly reduce the duration of construction. In comparison, conventional construction methods would have taken anywhere between 24 and 36 months to complete a project of similar size.

 

HUPA TO BUILD 2,28,204 HOUSING UNITS

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (HUPA) has authorised the construction of 2,28,204 housing units, specially targeted for the economically weaker sections of the society. The project is expected to cost around rS.3,231 crore and will cover five states – Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Under the initiative, HUPA will construct about 131 affordable housing projects. The initiative is aimed at addressing the country’s housing shortage of 18.78 million units, of which the demand is driven by 95 per cent of the low income population located in and around the urban centres.

 

ANCHOR’S HARIDWAR UNIT NOW OPERATIONAL

Anchor Electricals, a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, has unveiled its new manufacturing facility at Haridwar. The unit set up with an initial investment of about rS.150 crore will produce a complete range of wiring devices, aligned with the growth plans of the company. The facility currently manufactures about 20 million pieces of wiring devices per month. Apart from its manufacturing facility, the company also looks forth to set up a greenfield building on the same premises. Works on the facility is expected to be fully complete by 2016. The new unit will be spread over 40,000 sq m area and is expected to support the company’s phased wise expansion initiative. Furthermore, with the commissioning of the second greenfield facility, the company intends to double its total manufacturing capacity in Haridwar by 2020.

 

TCS PLANS R&D UNIT IN HYDERABAD

Indian IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will soon set up its research and development (R&D) centre for cutting-edge research on futuristic technologies in the area of intelligent systems at the International Institute of Information Technology - Hyderabad campus. The centre involving an investment of rS.20 crore is named after FC Kohli, the first chief executive officer of TCS and often referred to as the father of the Indian software industry.

 

KAJARIA CERAMICS PLANS NEW MANUFACTURING UNITS

One of India’s leading tile manufacturers, Kajaria Ceramics Ltd plans to start is manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh by 2017. The new unit focuses on the manufacturing of vitrified tiles and will cater to the demand for tile products from the country’s southern region. Apart from this the company is also adding a new manufacturing facility in Virat Nagar, Rajasthan, which is expected to be fully operational by next month. The company currently has eight manufacturing facilities across the country. Beyond its expansion activities the company is also looking to broaden its network of display centre and showrooms to enhance customer experience.

 

GOVT TO EASE CONSTRUCTION NORMS

Aiming to fast track the execution of stalled construction projects and attract more investments, the government plans to come out with necessary notifications for streamlining approvals to ensure time-bound and hassle-free clearances. The new provisions also aim at empowering the land owners and their architects to make self declarations that will enable to achieve speedy approvals. Furthermore, the government is also considering simplifying the procedures by delegating more powers to urban local bodies and use technologies to ensure time-bound decisions on projects that can prevent cost overruns and project delays.

 

TATA STEEL COMMISSIONS KALINGANAGAR PLANT

One of the country’s leading steel producers, Tata Steel has completed the construction and launched its largest single-location Greenfield project in India. Spread over 2,200 acres, the Kalinganagar plant is a unitary greenfield project that has a production capacity of six million tonnes per annum (MTPA). In the first phase, the capacity will be 3 MTPA, and it will go up to 6 MTPA. The first-phase produces flat, lighter, high-tensile strength steel and will augment its domestic production to around 13 MTPA. Phase-I of the project construction involved an investment of more than rS.25,000 crore and is expected to provide direct employment to about 3,000 people and indirect employment to 22,000.
