2015 will see consolidation of all our activities and systems

The Pune based Dynamic Crane Engineers Ltd is among the biggest players in the country’s construction equipment rental space. Its primary areas of business have been in the area of Crane Safety Systems, Manlift rentals, crane spares and training.NITIN GOKHALE, DIRECTOR – TECH & BHARTI GOKHALE, DIRECTOR, DYNAMIC CRANE ENGINEERS offered CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES a view of the recent business.

Give us a brief background of your company, products and solutions offered and the industries you cater to?

Dynamic started in the year 2000 with the aim of providing quality services to the crane industry. We have been supplying crane safety systems to all types of cranes since then. These are also known as SLIs (Safe Load Indicators) or LMIs (Load Moment Indicators). Crane rental companies and also manufacturers like TELCON are our esteemed clients. In the year 2007, we started rentals of aerial work platforms. With a modest beginning in the year 2007 with a fleet of 10 machines, we have reached a fleet size of about 100. Our fleet includes various types of AWPs – electric scissors, diesel scissors, straight booms, articulated booms, towable and truck mounted. The working heights of our machines range from 20’ up to 150’. Since last year we have also started a Crane Spares division in which we cater to the requirement of critical spare parts for cranes.

Give us an understanding of the investments made and your manufacturing capacities?

In the past few years we have invested in R&D of newer products in the crane safety field. We now have safety system for special purpose machines such as pipe layers and tower cranes too. In addition to these we also have electronic level sensor with display and electronic wind speed indicators. For the rental activity we have invested in setting up a world class central workshop that enables us to provide service to our own fleet. We also have an in house training center wherein we train our technical staff.

Tell us of your company’s performance in 2015 and growth prospects till 2016?

The performance last year has been almost flat due to the slump in the infrastructure area in the country. We do hope to see a revival of sorts in the coming days, but we feel that the turnaround will take some more time.

What is the company’s agenda for 2015? Can we expect any product additions this year?

We are continuing with developing new products for crane safety. We are coming out with a product for monitoring crane utilisation. This will help the crane owner as well as the crane user to monitor the crane usage at sites. In the rental activity we are planning to diversify into some new equipment like tower cranes and passenger hoists. We will be adding to the strength of our Crane Spares Division so that we can reach out to more and more clients to provide cost effective solutions.

What are the attractive qualities of Pune which led to your company making manufacturing investments in Pune?

Pune has always been a major industrial hub in India. So that makes it an obvious choice for us to set up our activity. In addition to this it is very easy to get educated technical persons due to many educational institutes here. Its vicinity to Mumbai and its climate are two plus points too.

Please offer your views of the city from a doing business perspective – what it has to offer and what more is required?

What this city lacks is in infrastructure like public transport, good roads etc. The issues like BRT and Metro have been hanging for many many years now. The Pune airport at present also has very limited connectivity. It is high time that Pune has its own full-fledged international airport.

Tell us about your future plans for the company?

This year we will be moving into our new office facility on the Mumbai Bangalore Highway at Warje. This is a facility where all our activities viz. crane safety systems, crane spares and rental activity will be consolidated.
