No one can stop the infrastructure progress of India

LiuGong India, recently completed 10 years of successful manufacturing in India. The continuous strive to come up with robust and technologically advanced products has made LiuGong a name to reckon with in CE industry. The company has come up with its material handling vertical recently.

NISCHAL MEHROTRA, DIRECTOR - SALES & SERVICE, LIUGONG INDIA in an exclusive interview to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES speaks about the products launched during EXCON 2019, market scenario, entering into MHE, introducing new products for India and the path ahead.

Take us through the products launched and their features at EXCON 2019

In this edition of EXCON, we have come up with 2 new range of excavators- 23 tonne and 26 tonne class. Both the machines are equipped with the Cummins engines. The 26 tonne excavator is being promoted due to its long boom. It is especially used at mining sites and at stone quarry. The long boom has a reach of 50-60 ft and there are considerable amount of demands for the same from the customers. We have already supplied some of our customers with the boom having range of 60 feet.

Also, from this year, Liugong has planned to enter into the material handling vertical and that has brought us to launch our truck mounted cranes. We have launched our 60 tonne crane and in future we are planning to come up with the 125 tonne crane.

How satisfied are you with the participation for EXCON 2019?

There is a lot of hope and opportunities as the government is planning to pump in more funds and have come up with some innovative ideas to bring the industry back on track. We are quite hopeful that within a shorter span the slump will phase out and things will have a positive change. However the organizers need to take care of the basic facilities and traffic congestion issues that have been going on for a while. If we claim to be an international exhibition of huge stature then that should be seen from the services provided to the OEM’s that are participating at the expo.

Telematics and technology have gone ahead in the recent times. What is your take on this?

We have launched electric wheel loaders and excavators in Beijing. India is paying tremendous amount of money on the fuel that needs to be imported. With the aim to reduce the usage of fuel, electric driven machinery will be the future. We are waiting for the Indian market to mature in that direction and are aiming to introduce the same for Indian market in the next 2-3 years.

We have also developed wheel loader that can be operated without manual intervention. One can operate the machine from his office. This has been already carried out with the usage of 5G systems in China. Once the 5G internet bandwidth is available in India we could bring the same to the doorstep of the Indian market. These machines can be used in hazardous conditions where human presence can be risky. In a way we are ready with our solutions for the market. We are working on the pricing part as such machines come with a slightly higher price.

What are the future plans of Liugong and how does the parent company look at the Indian market?

We have lot of hopes from the Indian market. Our parent company in China want’s to look at Liugong India as an export hub. As of today, we are supplying our machines to Nepal and Bangladesh. In the coming years we plan to export our machines to some parts of the South East Asia. Later in 2021, we plan to move to the countries of Middle East and African countries.

We have currently 5 types of equipment that we have been selling in India of the total 16 that we can offer. As of now we are working with the wheel loader, excavators, motor grader, compactor, forklifts, compactors and the dozers for the Indian market. In the last month we launched a new company- OVM as under this name we are globally placed in the second position for the cable stay bridges. As India is going for series of bridges, we have come up with the same to cater to the Indian market.
