In an exclusive interview with CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES,  Jun Miyajima, MD, AUTRANS INDIA PVT LTD., speaks about the participation at EXCON 2019, the targeted market, future innovation plans and the company’s India journey.

How was the company’s performance in this year?

We have delivered around 15-20 machines each month and thereby generated decent amount of sales throughout the year.

In terms of the Indian construction equipment industry which is your targeted market?

We are targeting the construction of metros, urban infra and the other basic infrastructure for the city. We have the mini excavators specialized for the mini excavators especially for farming, other agriculture applications and in cities where space is a constraint. Our mini excavators are used where it becomes difficult to reach for the human beings.

Tell us about your India journey.

We are the global leaders in mini excavators. Though we have been in India, our contribution to the Indian market is 25% market share. However we are planning on taking things ahead in India. We produce and assemble in Japan and only import them here in India. In India, the market is still around 1000-1500 units annually. We are working on having a sale of 3000-3500 units in the coming years.

What are the USP’s of the products that you offer?

Kubota’s construction machinery, including mini excavators, wheel loaders, and compact track loaders, have gained high reputation in Europe, North America, Japan, and other Asian countries. Kubota mini excavators in particular are renowned for their advanced features and amenities. They are winning the largest market share in the world (Off-Highway Research, 2013). They also meet European safety standards, which are considered the most rigorous standards in the world.

Kubota strives to build an optimal framework for global production that swiftly responds to changing demands. We are also expanding our business in the material handling industry, recently releasing Kubota CTL and SSL and responding to broad customer needs.

How was your experience in participating at EXCON 2019?

We have been participating at EXCON for a considerable time. However in terms of the previous editions, we have to say that the crowd that has turned out is lesser and we had expected large turnouts. That as per our expectations has not been the case. However we have had bookings of 50 machines and a few more are expected. Our market has been more dominating in the southern parts of India- interiors of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
