Having developed a niche competence in hydraulics for the automotives sector, this company recently touched a new milestone of selling its two millionth cylinder. In an exclusive interview SUDHIR CHAUDHARY, GENERAL MANAGER-SALES, HYVA INDIA underlines what distinguishes them vis-à-vis competitors and his India market outlook to CONSTRUCTION OPPORTUNITIES

Since we are in in the fabrication industry, we use CNC, laser cutting, plasma cutting, machines which are top quality for precision results.Besides, they are very operator friendly since all parameters are programmed and once the job is fitted and relevant program activated, the machine completes the job.

 

Green environment friendly technology in your products.

We practice environment friendliness as a philosophy and all the technology used is environment friendly, like we have complete closed painting booths, shot blasting booths which do not pollute.

 

Major demands made by end-users of your equipment. Is there a shift from initial cost price to TCO in Buyer Decisions? Importance of Aftermarket Services.

Customers are looking at the TCO in their buying decisions as well as other productivity enhancement features like fleet management, safety, prevention of accidents, and off course assisted service calls, towards their buying decision. After Sales is an important aspect in their decisions as it leads to minimum downtime and increases productivity.
 

Do you practice ‘Make in India and Sell Globally,’ use your India manufacturing base to supply the global market.

Yes we practice it very much, and currently for some of our products, India factories are the global sourcing points for Hyva Group worldwide. And it has been our guiding philosophy right from beginning ‘Global quality at local prices.’

We currently export from India cylinders, valves, and waste equipment.

 

What distinguishes your products vis-a-vis the competition? What is your current market share in all your product categories?
Every cylinder manufactured is tested before it is quality cleared for delivery. This extensive and detailed analysis, designing knowledge, and testing, makes our cylinders most reliable which is what distinguishes Hyva from competitors. Reliability of the system and minimum downtime contributes also to higher productivity, and thus deriving much more from the Hyva system as compared to the competitors.

Our customers have shown great faith in our products and company and made us the market leader that we have been. We are approximately 7 to 8 times larger than our nearest competitor in terms of annual sales.

 

Your outlook for the Indian ECE market. Which sectors will be the major demand drivers?

We are quite bullish of the ECE market, and with the huge stimulus declared by the government recently, it will only get more and more better. The major demand will be fuelled by the road construction and infrastructure segment as the government has embarked upon massive thrust in this direction and has announced the Bharatmala project as well as dams, metro, and all such projects.

 

Hyva reaches two million cylinders milestone

Hyva has produced its two millionth hydraulic telescopic cylinder in October 2017. This production landmark has been celebrated in all cylinder production facilities around the world – in Germany, Brazil, India and China – on Wednesday 11 October, ‘17.

The hydraulic cylinder, Hyva’s historical core product, is recognized as a world leader in quality and performance. Cylinder production started in 1982 and by 1995, cumulative production stood at 95,000 units. Cumulative totals of 500,000 were reached in 2007, one million in 2011, and now in 2017, two million cylinders.

It is an impressive milestone and the rate of increase in sales in recent years to satisfy demand in new applications, existing territories, and new geographical territories as our business has grown.

And, very importantly, while increasing volumes we have maintained the quality and innovation associated with the Hyva brand.

Front end cylinders are predominantly used on tipper truck and trailer applications in the Road construction, Mining, and Transportation sectors.
