ROAD PROJECTS PROPELS SALES OF CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

Construction equipment expanded to 41.5 per cent to an estimated 52,100 units in 2016 as compared to 36,800 units in the previous yearaccording to the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA). Fueled by a pick-up in road projects, sales of construction equipment such as backhoe loaders, pick-n-carry cranes, earth moving machines and excavators that had been depressed for a long time rose to their highest in four years in 2016.20-30 per cent growth levels in construction equipment sales are sustainable.

Encouraged by a good demand, all construction equipment firms are looking to diversify into newer segments, launch new products.

 

 

BHARATBENZ EXPANDS FOOTPRINT IN TAMIL NADU

Daimler india commercial vehicle (dicv) has expanded its distribution network in Tamil Nadu by opening its new Bharatbenz 3s touch point in Tuticorin. The new 3s (sales, service, spares) facility, which will be owned and operated by Jayaraj trucking, will sell and service Bharatbenz trucks and buses and Mercedes-Benz coaches. The Tuticorin dealership is the fourth Bharatbenz touch point for Jayaraj trucking, preceded by its presence in Tirunelveli, Tiruchi and Madurai.

 

 

ATLAS COPCO PLANS TO SELL THE DYNAPAC TRADE NAME

The reason for the planned divestment is that the division does not have the economies of scale to become number one or two in this market segment. The division of the company manufactures rollers for asphalt and soil applications, planers and pavers. The business includes sales and service operations in 37 countries and production units in Sweden, Germany, Brazil, India and China. It has 1,265 employees and revenues of approximately MSEK 2 900 €309m (£264m) 2016 but Indicative valuations of the business shows a need for an impairment charge of approximately SEK2bn (£180m), primarily related to intangible assets

 

 

VE Commercial Vehicles sells 4515 units in January 2017, recording a growth of 19.8 per cent

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (A Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture) has sold 4515 units in January 2017 (FYTD 45778) as compared to 3768 units in January 2016 (LFYTD 40240) recording a growth of 19.8 per cent (FYTD Growth of 13.8 per cent). This includes 4449 units of Eicher brand and 66 units of Volvo brand.

 

 

BOBCAT LAUNCHES 11-STRONG TELEHANDLER RANGE

Manufactured at the company’s plant at Pontchâteau in France, Bobcat now offers a choice of 11 new telehandler models covering maximum lifting capacities between 2.6 tonnes and 4.1 tonnes, with lifting heights from 6m to 18 m. For markets such as Europe, where emissions are highly regulated, the range has the new Bobcat D34 Stage IV/Tier 4 Final compliant diesel engine, developed in-house. The models also have a new naming system for capacity and lifting height: TL26.60 and TL30.60 compact telescopic loaders; TL35.70, T35.105, T35.105L and T36.120SL iddle lift telehandlers; T35.130S and T35.140S rental industry-oriented telehandlers; and T35.130SLP, T41.140SLP and T40.180SLP high lift telehandlers.

 

 

MV PAPENBURG CARRIES LIEBHERR CRANES

Combi Lift’s MV Papenburg was chosen to transport Liebherr mobile harbour cranes type LHM 550 and LHM 600 from Rostock in Germany to Antwerp in Belgium.Combi Lift is a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts network in Germany.

 

 

VOLVO CE TO MOVE TO SWEDEN

Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) is moving its global headquarters from its current location in Brussels, Belgium, to Gothenburg, Sweden. The relocation would facilitate closer co-operation with the Swedish group’s other business areas, and to adapt to the company’schanging global business dynamics.Sweden was home to approximately 4,000 Volvo CE employees, and the location of the largest manufacturing, commercial and technology sites. The Volvo CE headquarters will be operational in Gothenburg in the third quarter of 2017.

 

CMC LAUNCHES STABILISATION SYSTEM

Italy-based CMC has presented its new stabilisation system for the S32 tracked platform which allows it to reach 32m maximum working height, 3.5m negative, and 16m maximum outreach with a compact machine body: 2m tall, 1.54 meters wide and 7.5m in length.The S32 is a tracked platform with double telescopic and articulated boom and jib designed for easy access to the work area. It has a 1.7m wide basket with a maximum capacity of 220kg.Kubota Diesel powered with power supply of 110V or 230V or dual voltage (110V and 230V), it is also available in hybrid and all-electric version with the new eco-Lithium batteries.

 

 

JLG TO DEBUT NINE NEW PRODUCTS AT CONEXPO

JLG will debut nine new products at ConExpo, March 2017 in Las Vegas. Additionally, JLG will preview industry-leading technologies in its Gold Lot Booth (#G3946.) A variety of the company’s best-selling products including the 400S and the SkyTrak 10054 telehandler, as well as the 1932R electric scissor lift will be on display.A new Jerr-Dan product will also be featured at the show.

 

 

JCB WINS MASSIVE U.S. ARMY ORDER

JCB has won a $142 million deal to supply the U.S. Army with a fleet of 1,600 machines for deployment on tasks around the world. It is the second-highest-value order in the company’s history, and the year also marks 40 years of telescopic handler production.The largest single deal in JCB’s history also came from the U.S. Army in 2005 when a $206-million order was placed to produce hundreds of high-speed military versions of JCB’s backhoe loader. JCB now offers more than 300 commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for the military. Being chosen to produce this military-specific forklift builds on the broad range of JCB products that can be modified to meet the most gruelling military conditions.

 

 

OFF-HIGHWAY RESEARCH REPORTS ON TELEHANDLERS

Worldwide sales of telehandlers came to more than 53,000 units last year, with a total value of some US$4.3 billion, according to specialist market intelligence and forecasting consultancy Off-Highway Research.Although this is a significant number of machines, telehandlers are by no means globally accepted products. In North America designs tend towards machines with a relatively large footprint and a high mounting position for the boom. In contrast, Europeans favour a low mounting position and more compact machine dimensions. With different engine emissions standards and other regulations around the world, it looks like an unattractive sector for manufacturers seeking the economies of scale.It is also an area where China’s manufacturers have so far shown little or no interest.

 

 

GUNCO RECEIVES SECOND 33M HOLLAND LIFT

After receiving its first 33m narrow Holland Lift HL-330E14, which is the world’s highest narrow scissor spaces, with a width of 1.4m. It has a 33m working height and 600kg lifting capacity, with demand coming from large warehouses being built all over Europe due to the exponential growth in online shopping and the need to have logistic facilities close to the market.Gunco’s Special Equipment division has taken ownership of a second unit, which brings the special equipment division’s fleet to 120 units, making it one of the largest fleet of niche access equipment available in Europe.

HAULOTTE TO DEBUT NEW BOOM AT CONEXPO

Haulotte Group will use ConExpo 2017, in Las Vegas, to introduce a brand-new 85-foot telescopic boom to the market, which features a maximum outreach of 78 feet, 2 inches and has a number of new features and options for workers' safety. The unit will also have Haulotte'sActiv'Shield Bar 2.0 which provides crushing protection for users.The HT85 will also have an optional dual load capacity of 500/770 pounds. In the 770-pound mode, the platform can accomodate an extra 40 percent of equipment by weight and have an oscillating axle; hydrualicdifferenetial wheel lock; high ground clearance and gradeability up to 45 per cent.
