What would your strategy be to market your firm’s products and services across India?

Schwing Stetter has always focused on introducing the latest technology Indian construction industry is prepared for and launching products that meet specific requirements. It is pointless to bring in advanced machinery when there is absolutely no need for speed, scale or skill in the market.

Along with high productivity, another key feature of our equipment is its longevity. SCHWING Stetter is a pioneer in manufacturing equipment for concrete preparation, placement, transportation and recycling. Concrete Mixers, Concrete batching plants, Concrete pumps, Concrete placer boom, Mobile concrete conveyor, Shotcreting machines, Recycling plants, Water chilling plant, Weigh Bridge are our well-established products in the market for the past 15 years. Self-loading mixers, Tower Cranes, Wheel loaders, Motor Graders, Sludge pumps, are our new range of equipment launched recently. We cater to infrastructure developers and are OEM suppliers to various cement companies who offer Ready Mix Concrete. We offer a wide range of holistic after sales, spares and services for all our products.


Could you name a few clients and projects your company has been associated with and the benefits accrued to them?

All metro rail projects in major cities like Delhi, Kolkata Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai with customers like L&T, Gammon, Simplex, Soma, Jkumar, ITD, HCC are done by our machines.

Our entire range of equipment like batching plant, concrete pumps, transit mixers, shotcrete machines, belt conveyors, concrete boom pumps, etc have been in use throughout these projects. Companies that we have been associated with in major dam projects are Patel engineering - Ghatghar roller compacted dam project, Soma in Subansri, Jaiprakash, L&T, GVK. For concrete roads, we have been associated with Agra – Noida expressway through Jaiprakash, in NHAI : Dilip Buildcon, Gayatri projects, Patel Infra, S. P.Singala, Sadbhav, G.R.Infra, PNC, Punj Lloyd, BSCPL, KMC, NCC, Apco to name a few.For IT parks and commercial buildings, we have been associated with Shapoorji Pallonji, L&T, BL Kashyap. For airport projects, we have been associated with ITD cementation, CCC, L&T. For Irrigation projects, we have been associated with Madhucon, Dilip Buildcon, Transtroy, SSNC. In railway projects like Nayak Infra, Bhartia infraprojects, Cherian Varkey.


What is the present growth trend and demand-supply gap like in the ready mix sector in India?

Around 77 percent of the concrete demand is guided by housing construction. 14.2 per cent is the RMC penetration in India for 180 million cubic metre of concrete produced that has been projected for the year 2016 – 2017. The realty segment has experienced an oversupply and under demand condition over the last three years. With signs of revival, we expect major growth through GST implementation. The major Ready Mix Concrete players who operate nationally are restarting their expansion activity whereas we see a good growth in medium and small enterprises, which basically comes from Tier II and Tier III cities.


Tell us of the new products you intend to introduce and the geographical markets they will catwer to.

During Bauma Conexpo India 2016, Schwing Stetter India will be launching a slew of new products. These products are for different aspects of construction like batching concrete, transporting concrete, pumping concrete, recycling concrete and shotcreting concrete. This year, we will address the Government’s initiatives like Clean India or Swachh Bharat and Skill India by displaying Smartec sludge pump, which will be of great help in projects like cleaning of Ganga, metro rail construction, waste water management and smart cities.

Similarly, our training simulators will offer opportunity to the operators to move onto virtual experience and simulation to train them in safety and operation of concrete boom pumps

We will also be launching a slew of products like re-cycling plant RA20, heavy duty concrete pump SP 4507, 5 tonne external climbing flat top tower crane, 1.8 tonne Wheel Loader, Truck mounted crane QY85KA-Y, Rotary Drilling Rig XR180-II, Working Platform GTBZ14J, working Platform GTJZ08 and Horizontal Directional Drilling Machine XZ450 plus.



In which sectors do you see a demand for your products over the coming years?

Road, rail, port, power projects are market boosters and real estate projects are likely to add to this industry. Most of the RMC plants are coming up in retail segments, and we offer tailor made solutions in terms of control systems, MCI360, MCI400 and MCI550 are highly sophisticated, user friendly and robust control system which is developed in-house by Schwing Stetter India. Earlier, the first computer based system introduced by Schwing Stetter India was MCI300 control system.

MCI 550 control system is known for its robustness, speed, accuracy and it doesn’t depend on any third party tool or editors to execute. In Cities like Mumbai, where high strength concrete requirements are immense, our equipment is custom built to take care of customer’s special need.


Tell us about the challenges faced by manufacturers while introducing/marketing any new products into the market? To what extent is cost a deterrent?

A new product is launched after proper study and analysis to cater to customer specific requirement which will make the product a winner. But if the initial product cost is the customer’s priority and not life expectancy of the equipment beyond one project, such products are not our category.


Is your company participating at bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2016, what are your expectations from the exhibition?

We expect Bauma Conexpo India to enable manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their products to visitors who are decision makers of the government. We hope to have a better understanding about the future requirement of upgraded machines ready for the upscale construction in India.


Future outlook?

The NHAI has awarded 8500 kms of national highways with long term focus on projects like Bharatmala, Sagarmala and developments of road infrastructure in the North East.

2016 – 2017 will be a very good year and I am sure that the Government of India will give enough opportunities for the road Construction Company and equipment manufacturers like Schwing Stetter India.

As per market analysis, the increase in urban infrastructure projects, high rise building projects and other project's across globe impel market growth and generate a revenue of more than $8 billion by 2019.

The APAC region is estimated to account for more than 45 per cent of the total market share by 2019. As per various market analysis the infrastructure segment is considered to be the largest segment during the forecast period followed by the residential and commercial sectors. Huge investments made by several countries across world are expected to result in this segment's high market share.

For India, smart cities apart from rapid urbanisation, coupled with vertical growth in Metros will propel progress.
