Are you looking to add new equipment to you existing product portfolio?

We are adding new equipment like Blast hole drilling attachment on the excavator for open cast mines. We are expanding our grader portfolio with two large premium segment graders-18 and 22 t for high productivity grading (which will soon be required in India) and mining.

What are the trends driving purchase or hire of road construction equipment market in India?

While cost is one of the key factors driving purchase, more and more customers are increasingly looking at other factors like total cost of ownership, productivity, availability of finance, resale value, service and spares support.

Tell us about the indigenisation efforts undertaken by the company to meet the market requirements? What is the company’s approach to implementing the ‘Make in India’ drive?

We have focused on building a global-spec machine in India. We only import key driveline components like axles, transmissions, control valves, brakes, pumps and motors. The rest of the machine is completely made in India.

We believe that the ‘Make in India’ campaign is good. However, the reality is that India also faces a technology deficit. This is one of the reasons why manufacturing contributes only 15per cent of the GDP. OEMs need to shift their focus from saving cost to quality of workmanship. This will go a long way in making our machines export-worthy and making the ‘Make in India’ campaign a success.LeeBoy’s products follow standards set by ISO and ARAI. They are not stripped down machines made for the Indian markets. There is only one build being manufactured in India which is sold in both domestic and overseas markets.

What is your focus on technological upgradation in respect of your products? What are the advancements you have introduced or plan to introduced?

Our products are constantly upgraded on the basis of continuous feedback from customers and technical advances with our partner-suppliers.

We are coming out with new drilling attachments on our excavators, larger graders – 18t and 22t for high productivity and haul-road maintenance.

LeeBoy also offers the ‘Insta-I’ – its customized telematics solution from Trimble for monitoring critical parameters around the utilization, maintenance and health of LeeBoy machines across multiple sites. The Insta-i solution will enable customers to centrally manage their LeeBoy machines and improve  performance by minimizing wastage, efficient analysis and reporting of data. With mobile alerts enabled, the Insta-i system enables real-time data at the customer’s finger-tips to aid well-informed decisions. Our focus areas have been on power distribution modules, continuously variable transmissions, variable fan drives and improving emissions from tier 3 to 4 and above.
