Petron Engineering Construction Limited (PECL) is a major player in the EPC segment which includes construction of cement plants both here and overseas. Give us an understanding of the performance of your company in 2013-14 in that zone?

For nearly four decades Petron Engineering Construction Ltd. (PECL) is a renowned name in the field of cement plant construction. FY 2013-14 has been reasonably sound for the company as we bagged orders from Madras Cements Ltd.,Vizag & Ultratech Cement Ltd., Nagpur respectively. We also completed a project for Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd., Chittaurgarh, Rajasthan. As we see major investment plans by the new government in infrastructure development, which would give a boost to the cement Industry. PECL would be keen on receiving new orders and executing the same as well.

The past few years has witnessed an economic slowdown, a situation which has not helped by the current overcapacity in the cement industry. How has this impacted Petron’s business in the cement market? How have you addressed the market challenges?

For the last three years, there wasn’t any significant investment in infrastructure projects. However, we can now see major announcements by the new government. This will result in increased demand for cement. The current overcapacity should take care of the next 2 years demand. However, the capital investment for new projects should kick in immediately to look into the demand after 2 years as cement projects generally take 3 years to commission from the concept stage. As a group we have developed complete capabilities of turnkey execution of cement plant projects and we look forward to the execution of EPC cement projects worldwide as well as cater to the domestic market requirements.
