L&T COULD BAG STATUE OF UNITY

Engineering major Larsen and Toubro is in the running to secure the bag the order from the Gujarat Government for the construction of the ambitious 182-metre high Statue of Unity to be built on an island on the Narmada in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is reported L&T has emerged as the lowest bidder with a cost of Rs.2,980 crore. The statue expected to be the tallest in the world beating the Statue of Liberty. 

 

AHLUWALIA BAGS Rs.614.85 CR ORDERS

Ahluwalia Contracts Ltd has secured new orders worth about Rs.614.85 crore involving construction of institutional and commercial buildings electrical, plumbing and firefighting services. The work includes construction of the head office of the Punjab National Bank in Delhi at a cost of Rs.202.90 crores, the police headquarters in the Bihar capital Patna worth Rs.336 crore; civil work worth Rs.63.45 crore for a proposed commercial building in Central Mumbai and another Rs.12.5 crore work in the same city involving a sky suites project.    

 

BIDS INVITED FOR DLW WORK

Bids have been invited for work at Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi. The scope of work relates to construction of sheds, structures, water supply arrangement, drainage, road, track, power supply arrangement, general electrical work and supply, erection and commissioning of machinery and plant in connection with augmentation of production capacity at Diesel Locomotive Works.

 

TATA HOUSING FOR GURGAON VILLA PROJECT

Tata Housing Development Company has outlined plans to develop a new residential project in Gurgoan. To be constructed at a cost of Rs.600 crore the villa project called Arbella is spread across 35 acres on the Gurgoan-Sohna road. Perkins Eastman, USA has been tasked with the designing of the project. Up to 150 villas in a price ranging from Rs.3-8 crore will be constructed. Incidentally this will be Tata Housing’s fourth project in the Delhi-NCR region.

 

SADBHAV WINS RAJASTHAN PROJECT

Sadbhav Engineering together with a joint venture partner Vishnushiva has bagged a project from South West Mining for excavation work at a lignite mine in Rajasthan. The scope of work involves hiring heavy earth moving equipment, with operators and maintenance staff and facilities at Pit-B of Jalipa lignite mines in Barmer. The company leads the joint venture with a 75 per cent share. It is reported the period of the Rs.150 crore contract is for seven years effective from September 2014.

 

Rs.1,459 CR ORDERS FOR L&T CONSTRUCTION

The construction segment of EPC major Larsen and Toubro has bagged orders worth Rs.1,459 crore. These work orders relates to construction of an integrated domestic and international terminal of 75,000 sq.m with 48 check-in counters, 32 immigration counters, and 16 escalators handling a peak capacity of 2,000 passengers an hour and air traffic tower complex at Kannur Airport in Kerala; it also includes various construction orders for an educational institution in UP, and another for the construction of a regional stockyard and a spare parts distribution center in West Bengal.

Rs.1,000CR ORDERS FOR THYSSENKRUPP

ThyssenKrupp Industries India has bagged multiple orders worth Rs.1000 crore from three prominent  national and international conglomerates involving the delivery and installation of equipments of their Mining & Bulk Material Handling (MHE) and Boiler & Power Plant (B&PP) divisions.. As part of the contract with Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Kochi Refinery, ThyssenKrupp will provide complete bulk material handling system for Petcoke. It will also deliver and installation equipment and boiler package to a thermal power Project in Philippines along with auxiliaries like Electro Static Precipitators (ESP), Fans, Fuel Feeding system, Elevators, Electrical and Instrumentation Packages etc.

 

BHUBANESWAR GREEN BUILDING CONTRACT

Odisha’s Public Works Department has completed the process of tendering a Rs.124 crore contract for construction of a energy saving building project in Bhubaneswar but are yet to announce the name of the winner pending approval from the higher authorities. The 90,000 sq m project is to be executed in three phases. It is reported the first phase of the project, to be completed in two years, will include a massive tower of 30,000 sq m which will have features such as conference room, canteen, toilets and elevators with special amenities to make the building earthquake and fire resistant.
 

Rs.2,442 CR BSNL ORDER FOR L&T

Larsen & Toubro has bagged a Rs.2,442 crore contract from state-owned BSNL for telecom works across the country.  The contract is for supply, trenching, laying, installation, testing and commissioning of optical fibre cable network which will establish optical national long distance backbone and optical access routes for the defence network.

 

Rs.126 PLUS CR ORDERS FOR RATNAMANI

Ratnamani Metals & Tubes Limited has secured orders worth Rs.126 crore from Rajasthan for supply of carbon steel HSAW pipes and another order for $9.49 million for supply of CS ERW pipes for an USA based project. The orders are to be completed in the current fiscal year. It is reported the company said that the total outstanding orders on hand amounted to Rs.1,300 crore

 

STERLITE WINS Rs.2500 CR OPTIC FIBRE DEAL

Sterlite Technologies Ltd has just bagged contracts worth Rs.2500 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam to supply optic fibre cables for a mega alternate communications network that the state-run telco is building for India’s armed forces. It is reported the Vedanta Group company will be one of the prime suppliers of optic fibre cables for the crucial optic fibre backbone that will meet the strategic communication needs of the army and navy.

 

IL&FS BAGS Rs.213 CR PIPE LAYING CONTRACT

An EPC contract of Rs.213 crore has been secured by IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company from Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, for the construction of pipelines. The pipelines are to be laid from land fall point, Mangalore port to Mangalore Padur Cavern via intermediate valve station for storage of crude oil project. The 50 km pipeline project is slated for completion within 15 months from the date of issue of LOA. Incidentally IL&FS is also executing pipeline projects of Gujarat State Petronet on EPC basis besides two oil and gas projects.
 

CEMENT PROJECT BY VP CEMENTS

VP Cement is planning an integrated cement project in two phases in Gundlakunta village in YSR District of Andhra Pradesh. The total cost of the project is Rs.16 billion.

While Phase-I will consist of a 3.2 MTPA cement project, a 2 MTPA clinker project and a 1×40 MW coal-based CPP, Phase-II will consist of a 3.2 MTPA cement project, a 2 MTPA clinker project and a 1×40 MW coal-based CPP. As of now land acquisition is under progress and both phases await environmental clearance. While work on phase-I of the project is expected to commence in 2015, phase-II will commence in 2017.

 

SCANIA FOR BUS PRODUCTION AT BENGALURU

Swedish commercial vehicle and engine manufacturer Scania is looking to commence production of buses at its Bengaluru manufacturing facility. Up to Rs.300 crore has been invested in the manufacturing unit at Narsapura which will produce 1500 Scania Metrolink buses in the initial phase. It is reported the body of the coaches sized between 13.7 m and 14.5 m will be completely indigenous. The company is looking to sell up to 2,500 trucks and 1,000 buses per year during the next five years.
 

JAIN IRRIGATION BAGS HIMACHAL PROJECT

Jain Irrigation has received a letter of intent from the Himachal Pradesh government for an irrigation project. The Rs.100 crore project, which has water-saving potential of up to 50 per cent, is located in Tehsil Naduan in Hamirpur district at a height of 500 m above sea level. With the implementation of the project more than 30,000 farmers from a command area of 11,900 acres will be able to get assured irrigation. It is reported the micro-irrigation project will need an estimated 550 km of piping network and up to 10,000 HP to operate 25 to 30 pumps.

 

VADODARA SPORTS STADIUM TO BE READY SOON

Civic authorities in Vadodara are all set to complete construction of an indoor sports complex in the city in September. The project to come up at Sama will have an investment of Rs.40 crore. The sports complex spread over an area of 8.67 acre has provision for games such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton courts; a swimming pool and a gymnasium. The zone will also include facilities for indoor games like billiards, chess etc besides containing offices for staff, conference room and a cafeteria.   

 

RINL FOR DESALINATION UNIT
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam is planning to construct a desalination unit in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. RINL has invited Expressions of Interest from parties. It is reported the facility will have a capacity of 10 MGD.
