Case Study of TCS-Armacell

The Ideal Insulation

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd vouches for the Armaflex with Microban® technology used in their brand new office buildings at Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global provider of IT and outsourcing services. This subsidiary of the Indian Tata conglomerate employs over 250,000 people in 34 countries on six continents and is one of the leading software companies in the world today.

With the aim of taking the IT revolution to further regions of the subcontinent and creating an attractive workplace, TCS has built a new office complex in Gandhinagar in the state of Gujarat in western India. TCS Garima Park is currently being developed as a special economic zone opposite the Infocity IT metropolis. The one six-floors and two three-floors buildings provide a total of 1,39,354 sq m floor space.

Microban® protection against bacteria and mould

To insulate the air ducts and chilled-water lines of the air-conditioning systems, only Armaflex products with Microban® antimicrobial technology were used. Spectral Services Consultants Pvt Ltd, one of the leading HVAC consultants in India, specified Class 0 Armaflex Plus sheets in insulation thicknesses of 32 and 44 mm for the ducts and Class 0 Armaflex Plus tubes with wall thicknesses of 19 and 25 mm for the chilled-water lines.
Class 0 Armaflex Plus with Microban® provides long-term protection against bacteria and mould and thus contributes to healthy indoor air quality.

Effective noise control for a productive working environment

In areas where enhanced noise control was required, ArmaSound Super Silence Ductliner with Microban® antimicrobial protection was used. This new product, which is only available in India so far, is used for sound protection inside the air duct. Through its engineered pore geometry, formulation and composition, the material offers substantially higher acoustic energy absorption than traditional insulation materials. A high noise reduction coefficient (NRC), high insertion loss and a high sound transmission class (STC) reduce noise generated by components and air movement, ensuring a more productive work environment.

In total, some 60,000 sq m of Armaflex sheets and 5,000 m of Arma- flex tubes were used in this demanding project. The TCS Garima Park was inaugurated in 2013.
