L&T BAGS RS 2458 CR ORDERS 

 

L&T Construction has won new orders worth Rs 2458 crore across various business segments in May 2014. In   the Power Transmission & Distribution Business new orders worth Rs 1634 crore were received in both international and domestic markets – including a major EPC order from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) for the supply, construction and commissioning of 6 EHV substations in Qatar, worth Rs 1470 crore and an order worth Rs 164 crore for the construction of 33 kV network substation along with SCADA & DMS system in Puri from the Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Limited. Meanwhile the Building & Factories Business has bagged new orders worth Rs 517 crore construction of a convention centre at New Town, Kolkata, from the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and for building a mall in Chennai.
The Transportation Infrastructure Business has received a new order worth Rs 307 crore for the design build and turnkey construction of a 4 lane Elevated Corridor Project in Kolkata, West Bengal.

 

 

 

VIVA HOMES LAUNCHES SECOND PHASE

 

Viva Homes has launched the second phase of Viva City, one of the largest residential township in on the outskirts of Mumbai. Situated amidst three million square feet of verdant nature, Viva City Phase 2 at Virar offers 1, 1.5, 2 and 3 BHK flats. The township which comprises 2200 flats in all phases.is within close proximity to educational institutions, shopping malls, lifestyle and entertainment arcades, resorts and beaches. Viva Homes launched Phase 1 of Viva City last year comprising 400 flats

 

 

 

HITACHI RECEIVES BATCH ORDER OF 14 ELEVATORS

 

Hitachi Ltd has announced that they have been awarded a batch order for 14 units of elevators. The order includes four units of 6 mins/sec ultra-high speed elevators, which will be among the  fastest elevators in India. These super speed  elevators will be installed at Nathani Heights, a premium 72-story residential project  in Mumbai. It is reported the residential project has a 2016 completion deadline.

 

 

 

ACC TO EXPAND AND UPGRADE

 

ACC is looking to invest Rs 3000 crore in a capacity upgrade and expansion of its Jamul plant in Chattisgarh and its grinding unit in Jharkhand.  While the existing Jamul plant will be decommissioned and upgraded to a 4 million tonne plant based on state-of-the-art technology, a 1.5 million tonne grinding unit will be added at Sindri in Jharkhand. The two plants are expected to see commissioning in the second quarter of 2015.

 

 


INORBIT FOR RS 250 CR EXPANSION 

 

Inorbit Mall has launched plans to invest up to Rs 250 crore every year for expansion in the country through the brownfield route. The subsidiary of the K Raheja Corporation currently operates six malls across the country – one each in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore and Baroda. The company has set upon itself a target of creating  5-8 lakh sq. ft. of mall space every year through the acquisition route.

 

 


BAI WANTS CONSTRUCTION MINISTRY

 

The Builders Association of India has demanded a separate ministry both at the centre and the state level as a means to resolve issues affecting the construction sector. Among the key problems affecting the industry is paucity of skilled workers with the requirement touching at least 30 million by 2020, The construction industry would require 55-60 million workers by 2020.

 

 

 

OBEROI IN NCR TOWNSHIP PROJECT

Mumbai based Oberoi Realty has made a foray into the residential real estate market in north India. The realtor has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a township project in the National Capital Region (NCR).The development potential is approximately five million square feet. With the agreement in place the builder now joins major realtors such as Tata Housing and Godrej Properties who have been involved in the construction of premium real estate projects in the Delhi-NCR region

 

 

 

MOIL TO TIE UP WITH SAIL-RINL FOR PLANT

 

Manganese Ore India Limited is looking to tie up with Steel Authority of India Limited and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited to set up a ferroalloys plant. Ferro alloys are used in steel-making for de-oxidising purposes. The project will come up at an investment of Rs 600 crore at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh The proposed plant will have a capacity of 150,000 tonne per annum. The plant is expected to feed both MOIL and the other national steel makers. It is reported the a part of the project will be funded from debt. 

 

 

 

RAK CERAMICS ON HUNT FOR NEW PLANT SITE

 

UAE based tile maker RAK Ceramics is looking to set up a Greenfield plant in the country in a bid to increase manufacturing capacity. The company has currently a vitrified tile manufacturing plant at Samalkot in Seemandhra  with a capacity of 30,000 sq m of tiles and 1,500 sanitary ware pieces per day. It is now evaluating options in states like MP and Chattisgarh to set up a manufacturing unit which will help it meet increasing industry demand. It is reported the company is looking to invest close to Rs 300 crore to raise production capacity. The company is also scouting for a joint venture partner in Gujarat

 

 

 

ASK GROUP RAISES MONEY FOR PROJECTS IN 4 CITIES

 

ASK Group has raised Rs 500 crore in structured debt which will be invested across five residential projects in 4 cities across India. These funds are being deployed into five residential projects of up to 5-10 lakh sq ft located Pune, Bangalore, NCR and Hyderabad. It is reported the term of these funds is about 24 to 30 months at a coupon rate of 18 to 20 per cent. Over the coming six months the company will train its attention on new investments in Chennai, Pune and Bengaluru.

 

 

 

MAHINDRA LIFESPACE FOR RS 4000 CR BIZ CITY

 

Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. is looking to set up its second integrated business city on land it has acquired in Chennai The realty arm of the Mahindra Group has acquired 550 acres of the total 650 acres of land in the north of the city where it plans to develop the project on the lines of the state of the art Mahindra World City. Work on the first phase of the project is expected to begin in the second half of 2014. The total cost of the project is in the region of Rs 4000 crore

 

 

 

RS 330 CR NOIDA PROJECT FOR ARABIAN FIRM

 

UAE-based Arabian Construction Company has bagged a Rs 330-crore contract from realty major Brys Group for the development of their 81-storey tower in Noida. The Brys Group is constructing a super luxury project on the Noida Expressway covering an area of over 7.5 acre, and involves an investment of up to Rs 850 crore.  The structure, slated to be the tallest in North India, will contain 291 flats. It is reported the project will be funded through bank loans and advance against sales.  The firm has also been awarded a Rs 550-crore contract from Supertech to construct 80-storey tower and another Rs 350-crore contract for 60-floor project in Kolkata.

 

 

 

UNITY INFRA BAGS ORDERS

 

Unity Infraprojects has bagged two orders worth Rs 257.11 crore. The first, a Rs 116.11 crore order which it has won from the CPWD relates to construction of a hostel in Jharkhand while the second, which is of Rs 141 crore, concerns a medical college in Karnataka. The Jharkhand project involves construction of a 1000 room hostel for boys and girls in Dhanbad. The second order for the construction of the first phase of the Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences was bagged from the Public Works, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department, Karnataka.
 

 

 

GLOBAL HOSPITALS EYEING EXPANSION

 

Global Hospitals is looking to expand its presence to other cities across India. The health care chain currently has 2,000 beds across Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, of which 1,400 beds are operational. The company is now in talks for investment by other players in New Delhi and Kolkata and is seeking to extend its services through an asset light model where it will only concern itself with brand and management.  The healthcare chain has ambitious plans to set up new hospitals in India and abroad from the Rs 180 crore it raised through PE fund Everstone Capital, which now holds 20 per cent stake in Global Hospitals.
 

 

 

INDIA CEMENTS TO MERGE WITH TRINETRA

 

India Cements has outlined plans to merge with its subsidiary, Trinetra Cements. The total production capacity of the company is expected to be rise to 15.8 mn tonne per annum following the merger from the current production capacity of 15.5 mn tonne per annum. India Cements has has seven integrated cement plants in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, one in Rajasthan and two grinding units, one each in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. It is reported the merger will include Trishul Concrete products and lead to the sale of land around its plants in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

 

 

 

COUNTRY CLUB TO INVEST IN LUXURY PROJECTS

 

Hyderabad based Country Club India Limited has announced plans to set up a a luxurious housing project in Bengaluru. It expects to invest up to Rs 250 crore in a project called Osadia Garden City The project is to b completed by 2017. This foray marks Country Club's entry into high-end real estate development
